Interior of an industrial building with a metal roof and lights hanging from the structure

Project 07 / 07

Expert report on defects in an industrial building

Expert report on the structural defects of an industrial building: inspection, causes, extent and repair proposal.

The brief was to answer three questions: what is failing, why, and how much it will cost to fix. That meant inspecting the building, surveying the damage and documenting it item by item.

With the actual structure surveyed and drawn up, the affected elements were recalculated in their current condition to determine how much capacity they had left and whether there was any risk to people.

The report concludes with the origin of each defect, a distinction between what compromises safety and what does not, and a measured and costed repair proposal, able to stand up in legal proceedings.

A wrong diagnosis is paid for twice: in the repair that does not work and in the one that has to be done afterwards.
